Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

For most pools, we recommend testing at least once a week during regular use, and more often in hot weather, after heavy use, or following heavy rain. Spas usually need more frequent testing, often 2–3 times per week, as the water volume is smaller and conditions can change more quickly. Regular testing helps catch small issues early, before they turn into bigger (and more expensive) problems.

If you’d prefer a helping hand, you’re always welcome to bring a water sample to our Gozo store for free in-store water testing. We’ll explain the results clearly and help you choose the right steps for your pool or spa.

It depends on how your pool or spa is used. Chlorine is the most common choice for swimming pools and above-ground pools, as it’s effective, widely available and works well for larger volumes of water.

Bromine is often preferred for spas and hot tubs, as it remains more stable at higher temperatures and is generally gentler on skin and eyes.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The right option depends on factors like water temperature, usage, and personal preference. Yes — even if water looks clear, sanitiser and basic maintenance still need to be topped up regularly. Many common water problems start before you can see them, especially in warm weather or with frequent use.

Regular testing and small adjustments help keep water stable and prevent bigger issues later on.

Not usually. With regular maintenance and correct water care, pool water can be kept in good condition for long periods without needing to be changed. Spas may need more frequent water changes due to their smaller volume and heavier use, but this depends on usage and how well the water is maintained.

In most cases, problems can be corrected without draining and refilling — saving time, water and unnecessary cost.

Yes — we deliver across both Gozo and Malta for most of our products.

However, certain biocide chemicals, such as chlorine and bromine, cannot be shipped to mainland Malta due to safety regulations on the Gozo Channel ferry. These items are available for delivery within Gozo or collection from our Gozo store.

If you’re unsure whether a specific product can be delivered to your location, feel free to get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise before you order.
